Online Class: Yin Yoga for Athletes and Everyone

My latest class at YogaVibes is a yin practice—long holds of poses on the floor. As you sit with the experience, you’ll have ample opportunity to hone your focus and body awareness, critical skills for athletes and anyone who deals with stress. Enjoy!

Love your posts. Quick question – I always feel uncomfortable as a teacher during long holds of poses. Are you silent during this time or do you talk to students? If talking, do you talk about the pose or just life in general?

Great question, Lisa. It’s really tough to let quiet reign during long holds, as it’s super tempting to fill the space with the sound of your voice. (It can be even harder when you don’t use music.) Watch your students. If they are casting nervous glances at you or fidgeting, you can give some cues about the pose or the experience of the long hold. (I’d stay in the moment rather than trying to discourse on a major element of philosophy.) Then settle back to silence and watch again. Hope that helps!
