Movement teachers: come learn how to handle everything from heart attacks to fart attacks in our fun, educational weekend on Classroom Management and Safety. It’s part of the Carolina Yoga 500-Hour Teacher Training; those not enrolled in the training are still most welcome!
The very first step of the first limb of yoga is ahimsa, nonharming. With this goal in mind, we seek to keep our students safe in class. Once their safety is ensured, our choices in how we set up and manage the classroom directly affect the quality of the students’ experience and the feel of the class. This weekend intensive, designed for teachers with any level of experience and in any movement modality, combines a hands-on approach to classroom safety with a practical investigation of classroom management. Topics include:
- Setting up the room
- When and how to make studio announcements, self-, and cross-promotion
- Lighting and sound considerations for every space
- Whether and how to use music, essential oils, incense, candles, heat, and adjustments in service of the students’ safe experience
And we will address all your questions about safety, handling students’ needs, and teaching well.
Asana, lecture, discussion, and small group work, including American Heart Association CPR and AED training. For yoga, Pilates, and movement teachers of all levels and styles.
