I send several emails each week on making your yoga lesson plans more adaptable, inclusive, and sustainable so your teaching can serve the students in front of you.

In the first email, I’ll send my personal go-to yoga lesson plan. This is the class I teach when my energy is low—but it’s a student favorite!

You’ll learn how to adapt it, too. Plus:

  • yoga teacher tips
  • mindset advice for yoga teachers
  • profession-centered how-tos
  • affirmations you’ll use every day
  • the latest from my offerings

“Since I discovered your books and started following your social media and newsletters, I have felt significant, gradual growth with my teaching ability. I was very hesitant to ‘do the same class twice’ but when I tried I realized that class is never the same even if all the poses and movements are. If I change the pace, how many breaths we take in a pose, I’ve found that class becomes organic.”

    kind words

“She wasn’t just an athletic practitioner, she was a real yogini.”

—Cyndi Lee, from her foreword to Teaching Yoga Beyond the Poses

“I qualified as a yoga teacher early this year but I’m struggling with my confidence to teach. Sage is definitely helping me get there. I’m feeling more confident the more I read and listen to her great advice. Sage says things that really resonate with me. I hear myself say, ‘Oh, that’s me,’ when I’m reading her books. I really soak up everything she says.”

Your Students Over 50 Need a Smarter Class, Not a Gentler One

“For your students over fifty, balance work is the difference between catching themselves on an icy sidewalk and a trip to the emergency room. And your class might be the only balance training they get all week.”

“Six moves of the spine, four lines of the legs, two core actions: everything was covered except one twist. Twenty-plus years teaching, and rotation is still my personal blind spot.”

Can We Talk About the Smell in Your Yoga Studio?

“This week’s episode started with my daughter Vivian ambushing me at breakfast with the show’s own opening line: ‘Can I tell you something? I farted in yoga class!’”

      hi, I’m Sage

I’ve been teaching yoga since 2003 and training yoga teachers since 2011, and along the way I’ve written 13 books, including The Professional Yoga Teacher’s Handbook and The Art of Yoga Sequencing, hosted the Yoga Teacher Confidential podcast, and taught everyone from brand-new students to UNC’s football and basketball players.

I love the craft side of this job: the planning, the sequencing, and the small decisions that help a class land for the real humans in front of you. Sage Advice is where I share that work several times a week, so you can take whatever’s useful straight into your own classroom.
