the training delivery playbook

teach your training in every format

Your trainees come to you with different jobs, different schedules, and different ways of taking in a lecture—but every one of them wants to process the whole of it. The Training Delivery Playbook shows you how to turn a lecture you already give into a lesson your trainees can watch, read, listen to, write in, and keep, so it goes on teaching long after the training ends.

the same lecture at the same hour

You know the lecture I mean: the anatomy overview, the history talk, the ethics session, the one you could give in your sleep because you give it the same way every time. You give it live, once, to the people who made it on time that day, and then you hope it lands.

For some of your trainees, it does. Others are in their sixth hour of the day, or they missed that weekend, or they’re the kind of learner who needs to read something twice before it sticks, and the lecture they needed most is the one they can’t get back.

It doesn’t have to work that way—and you don’t have to rebuild your training to change it.

one lecture, five ways in

Think of a recorded lecture the way a busy cook thinks of a big pot of soup on Sunday: you make it once, then serve it all week in different bowls. Record a lecture once, and it becomes a video, a transcript, a private podcast episode, a workbook page, and an EPUB. Your trainees can meet the material at 6:00 a.m. before work or at 10:00 p.m. on the couch, with their eyes, their ears, or a pen in hand, and you get to spend your live yoga teacher training time together on practice teaching and questions instead of delivering the lecture again.

I deliver my own training this way, and trainees notice:

“The video lessons and workbook laid the foundation, the live calls and buddy teach experience helped bring the learning to life.”

—April Leming, Comfort Zone Yoga 200-hour yoga teacher training

“I appreciated being able to consume the content in multiple formats: video, podcasts, and written posts.”

what’s inside

Nine lessons, each with a short video, a workbook page, and the templates that go with it. Every lesson leaves you with something finished:

1. meet them where they are

The Training Delivery Audit, filled in for your own training.

2. the living page

A training-day page in Notion or Google Docs, ready to project and share.

3. record everything

A day-of recording checklist that fits the gear you already have, from a phone in your pocket to a full studio.

4. transcripts students will read

One cleaned-up transcript from your own recording.

5. the flipped weekend

Your next training weekend, re-planned, with what moves to pre-work and what stays live, plus a section for weekend workshops.

6. one recording, five formats

One lecture taken all the way through video, transcript, private podcast, workbook, and EPUB, with the time each step takes.

7. the workbook

Your own workbook template, formatted and ready to fill.

8. the front door

A course page that puts every format one click away, shown in Circle, with notes for Thinkific, Kajabi, Teachable, and a plain website.

9. the format decision tool

A one-page worksheet that tells you which lecture to record first and where to stop.

The Playbook comes to you in the same five formats it teaches, so you can watch it, read it, listen on a walk, write in the workbook, and keep the EPUB on your e-reader. (It would be a little embarrassing if it didn’t!) As it stands, it’s a fun meta experience of what it’s like to learn in these various formats.

this is right for you if . . .

You run or lead a 200- or 300-hour yoga teacher training, in person, online, or anywhere on the hybrid scale in between.

You teach workshops or series that go beyond the poses, with lectures you give again and again.

You already have a curriculum and want your trainees to get more out of it.

You’d rather not become a tech person. Every step is laid out plainly, and a one-page glossary translates every tech word in the course.

this isn’t for you if . . .

You need a curriculum written. The Playbook doesn’t tell you what to teach; it helps you deliver what you already teach. If you need the curriculum itself, my one-time license and teacher training partnerships cover that.

You want help to market a course or grow an audience online. The Playbook is about how your trainees learn inside your training, not about selling to new ones.

see it in a real training

Every lesson in my Comfort Zone Yoga 200-hour yoga teacher training is built the way the Playbook teaches: the video on top, the annotated version under it, and the workbook, EPUB, and private podcast waiting in the course’s opening lesson, so trainees set them up once and know where to find them.

learn from someone who’s been there

I’ve been training yoga teachers since 2011. I run the Comfort Zone Yoga 200-hour yoga teacher training online, I’ve taught in a variety of hybrid formats, and I’ve spent more than 15 years on the faculty at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health. I’ve also written 13 books, so I know a thing or two about turning what I teach into something people can read on their own time.

Every format in the Playbook is one I use in my own training.

frequently asked questions

How much time will this take?

The course videos run under 90 minutes in all. Most of your time goes into your own first lecture: for a 30-minute lecture, plan on three to four hours to take it all the way through, most of that in creating the script. Lesson 9 helps you decide how many more to do, and where to stop.

Do I have to be on camera?

Not to start. Recording your live trainings with a clip-on mic gives you audio and a transcript, which is enough for every format except the video. When you’re ready for the camera, the teleprompter section makes it much easier.

Does this help with Yoga Alliance?

Lesson 5 works out the Yoga Alliance rule on online hours for a 200 and a 300, with the standards document cited.

Do I need Circle?

No. I use (and love!) Circle, so it’s the example I use (as well as the delivery platform), but Lesson 8 has notes for Thinkific, Kajabi, Teachable, and a plain website.

What if I want help applying it to my training?

You’re welcome to work with me one-on-one. Build It With Me is three hours together for $1,500, and we start from your filled-in Training Delivery Audit, which you’ll complete in the first unit of the Playbook.

Can I get a refund?

Because the Playbook is a digital product with immediate access on purchase, all sales are final.
